My New Character

Post by Dhrag »

Dear Silkroad Online Forums,

My name is Dhrag and I would like to ask for some tips on starting my new character. Unfortunately, I screwed up my last account because I made it a STR hybrid bowman. I soon realized that it sucked  . That is why I have decided to create a new account. My old account wasn't too high level, so it won't be hard to train to that level again...

I would like to become a bowman. Many topics on these forums have suggested pure STR with FIRE as my main force, but the discussion on those posts were too vague and I need more specific details so that I do not screw up this account as well. I would like to ask you pros out there for your opinion. Which build and force will be the best for me? How should I train? My main role in the game won't be PvP or anything like that, so I just want to have an average Silkroad life, an average Silkroad character, and an average account with an average hitting damage. That is good enough for me. :)

PS. Feel free to add me on MSN: hyrh627@hotmail.com

Thanks,
Dhrag

Just so you know.. many people aren't willing to build bows anymore...
see the ' SonnyCheeba ' incident that happened a couple of weeks ago.

Bows just don't really have the advantage that their suppose to have.. the game was not really built well with them in mind, because just about everything else is supported, but Bows/Archers have nothing.

But, if you still decide on it, yes, Fire/pure STR

Thanks for the reply, Nace. :)

But how else should I train? Like should I add other stuff other than Fire? I guess I have to agree with you that bowmen aren't very good because I've had some other past gaming experiences which the same situation occured to me as well...then, let me ask you this: If I do not a make bowman, should I make a spearman? Because that is my second favorite weapon. And if so, how should I build it? :?

first off im not a bow user. but.. for fools to say bows have no meaning in this game or that there getting to be pointless to make i laugh. bows are for range, range equals support. reason ther support is cus duh they have range. if ur someone who's into group pvp either thiefing or hunter, a few good bowmen would be fantastic. as a bowmen u do as much damage as possible before the crook gets to u. so if u have a glavie/ blader tanking and ur in back with a bow the fight will turn in ur favor. enough said about that if noone else can get what i mean u all need to try different mmorpg's out and find something a bit better then just solo pvp. since u have said u just want a good bow char to have fun and play the game ya pure str bow along with fire as ur main force(ofcourse getting the neccesarry buffs in it also) and also get lightning for grasswalk and also the other buffs it offers you. i suggest wearing garment simple reason for speed and less mp drain, since ur gonna be pure str u should just wear garment( this is in my opinion, some pure str users like sticking with armor even protector) hMM.. if u got anymore questions or want to know anything else just ask.

Bows definitely have a position in the game, just not one in the frontline. As you said, it’s a support build. I think that’s what throws people off, I do believe the bow isn’t balanced correctly with other builds.

If your going for spear, your going for a nuker. Throw all points into INT, and follow some guides like this one:

That’s the first I found, I’m sure u can find better ones at this forum, but I’m at work so don’t have the time.

Hmm...I don't think a nuker really fits my definition of an 'average Silkroad character'. :P I was really thinking of something like maybe a STR hybrid (2 STR, 1 INT) with a mix of maybe all three forces? Because my friend is doing that and it seems that he's getting along pretty smoothly...

MOre average then a hybrid. Unlike full ints, hybrid's require some planning when it comes to stat distribution and balances. Go pure, you can just throw everything in the same box.

So, you're saying:

Weapon: SPEAR
Build: INT
Force: LIGHTNING

Should I add anything else other than Lightning? And are you sure pure INT is going to be useful...?
