Clerics and creativity

Post by PainterOfSound »

Hey everyone! Since people on this forum enjoy discussing effectiveness vs fun (maybe i'm the only one), I wantedto throw this one to everybody.

When thinking about euro builds, as a cleric (subclass or otherwise) is it possible to come up with a unique/fun and interesting class combination or playstyle? Because I like clerics and all, but when discussing class choices, I avoid it like the plauge b/c it seems very boring and cookie cutter-esque. Why bother making one of the nukrous 2h clerics out there if it isn't unique?

Just my opinion. Your thoughts?

I've always loved clerics because pure battle clerics are rare. You don't see a lot of people play this build, especially on older servers where most everyone is either a warrior or a wizard.

Clerics are fun, especially if you add 10 levels in warrior to get Shield Trash. Not only that, but they are pretty good in pvp; they're hard to kill off if the cleric knows what they are doing. The only bad thing about clerics is that they have limited attacks and they do low damage compared to other builds (with the exception of offering.)
 Moving to Aion Online. Goodbye, Silkroad. You won't be missed.

Thanks, that is the kind of responsei am looking for! Hopefully I can figure that one out: battle cleric, sounds nice. Playng a cleric would be cool, but I really don't like all the copycat builds. Anyone else have any ideas?

+1!
I love clerics also, I have a Wizard/Cleric and for fun in PvP I mess around with my cleric skills. It's fun to watch people around my level try to kill me.. I cast Recovery Division, Healing Cycle, and sometimes Bless Spell.. They can't kill me unless they get a crit or can 1 shot me.. I love it!

There's a Lv90 Cleric/Warlock on my server... He's my idol, lol. He's a Hybrid 2Int 1Str Cleric, It's truely amazing how much he can tank. For instance he can tank a Lv90 nuker w/ SoSun+7 spear for a good while.. Just casting Healing Orbit, Bless Spell, Recovery Division, and the self cleric buffs. It's awesome :P
Eh. SRO got boring but I still play every once in a while. :)

Yeah.. You could go Cleric/Bard, there a quite a few of those but most are Bard main. You'd just need bard for speed/noise and have cleric main. Also Cleric/Warlock, debuffs and sleep/stun are very helpful in PvP considering the speed of attack and damage of a Cleric.

Who cares about effectiveness, just make a build that you will continue to look forward to logging on and playing whenever you play SRO. Because when you break it down, you play any game for one reason: Fun.

i always have fun playing battle cleric
MissLe2 is a cleric bard, started as a bard but is now mostly cleric
since lvl 30 (now is almost lvl 66)
a good cleric can easily kill 10 lvls higher, but not very fast
and you are so hard to kill
8) 8)

I started as a cleric then switched to bard. I am now close to FF 74 masteries on both (char is 78) still hurting for SP.

I like pvp'ing using cleric skills and warrior for shield trash, it helps stop the wiz nukes sometimes or to back up a str char. And as someone else said, it's hard to kill me unless someone does a big crit or a big nuke.
If faith is a crutch, I'm not limping anymore.
