Solo Cleric

Post by NOIR »

Hey guy, it's my first post!!

Anyway, I've been around this forum for a while now but never really posted anything... I just want to hear couple tips from you guys.

Okay, I'm thinking of making Cleric Only char. I think with it's decent nukes and bonus stats from wearing light armor, it'll let my cleric withstand against mobs at it's level. My questions are...

1. Anyone tried this build?
2. How's the progress so far?
3. Do you fight mobs that are higher/same/lower level as your character?
4. Do you run away when you see pt or giant mobs?

Thank you guys for your comments!!

I think that clerics are too hard to grind by themselves (perhaps if they are fully farmed)..I never tried it tho. I got a full cleric but it's getting plvled hehe.

Hmmm...don't know anyone with cleric-only.

I'm a level 58 cleric/bard/warrior (lvl 57 cleric skills, level 45 bard, level 10 warrior only for shieldtrash).

1. Kind of.
2. works fine for soloing with bard moving march and noise to a certain degree.
3. When soloing I fight mobs I can one-shot; faster XP this way. Sure, I can take on mobs level 61-63 with the passive def buffs and whatnot, but physical damage is tough on me even with recovery division. I prefer to fight mag. monsters as my mag defense is almost double my physical. Most of my armor is blued for extra int/str too.
4. No, for the most part I can tank pt and giant mobs my level although it's difficult. But, it's quicker and easier XP to kill mobs two-three levels below me with one or two shots than kill a pt mob my level that takes 12 hits and more pots.

Soloing a cleric is going to be slower than helping a party any day. Matter of fact we've been partying at dark karra the last few days with lvl 57, a 62 chinese, lvl 54, 52, 55 and 64. Chinese makes it tougher to keep aggro with rec. division on but we make do. Each night I've managed to get around 20-30% easily depending on how long we're there (and the spawns), 1-3 hours.

Thanks for the reply guys.

With passive buff for light armors, does the phy def increase as much as wearing heavy armors?

I'm not 100% sure, but afaik it does. You might get even higher phy def wearing light armor with cleric rod, and with that buff, than wearing heavy armor.

EDIT: I didnt use phy. reinforce (forgot it). Anyways I still think it will get really close.

Interesting... so there's no reason to wear heavy armor for clerics I guess. I think I'll make Soloing cleric and see what happends. It's impossible to find a good party in Oasis since everyone just plvl there...

Solo cleric is playable but man, you level slow...just go Cleric to lvl 20. Keep minimal healing powers and concentrate all your SP on your attacks. Having a nice plussed cleric rod is handy too, because with the slow cooldowns on trial cross and overhealing, you'll be using it frequently.

Level up Bard (that is, if you're taking Bard) to 20 later for moving march. Until then the scrolls would be suggested.

Noise is handy for grinding later on too.

1. Anyone tried this build?
- I'm a main cleric with a subclass, but I think it counts :p I tried soloing with just cleric. And boy it was SLOW -_- never wanted to do it again.. xD

2. How's the progress so far?
- Soloing as a cleric is man again... slow :/ Cus you don't have much attack skills and the skills aren't that strong.

3. Do you fight mobs that are higher/same/lower level as your character?
- You can 2-3 hit mobs as your level with cleric attack skills. Higher level mob.. you can survive, but it just takes more hits to kill them. and 2-3 is already a lot too..

4. Do you run away when you see pt or giant mobs?
- You can survive normal pt mob.. But it'll take you a LONG time to kill any party mobs. For party giant, you might die in a crit. So you better run away from any party mobs :p

Oh and the light armor bonuses are awesome. The defense bonus from the Charity passive when buffed with body/soul blessing AND the 2 defense passives will get you lots of defense bonus... you'll almost have as much defense as a pure str warrior. xD
