The way to fix your screwed up QuickTime

So yeah, I was, going through my computer one day, started to open my iTunes, then BAM!

That shit didn't open, having this some kind of install QuickTime and snack.


I go to QuickTime, i go "hey, its there and i could open and use it"

Now im thinking, WTF my god damn iTunes won't Fudging open, then i delete these QuickTime files, then again, i restarted my computer various times, then it still won't work.

Tried deleting it from everywhere, folder in Program files, and into all users part.

Then, i tried to go to "Add or Remove Programs" part, and it says i can't Farking delete it, some stupid QuickTime.MSI is like missing and shit.


I looked around the internetz, googling the whole "can't delete QuickTime shit"

Couldn't find anything useful.

Then, i was lost at hope, and thinking on wanting to get a Zune later in the future, because of farked up QuickTime/iTunes.

So i just typed, "QuickTime.MSI" in google, then i searched AGAIN, so damn long.


Until i found this site, and searched through all the goddamn posts, and, there it is.

An "Answer" to my Question.

I thought it wouldn't work, but i had nothing to lose, either try it, or say goodbye to Apple and it's iTunes/QuickTime.

Then i was amazed, it worked, it gave me precise info to delete the farked up QuickTime, and be able to reinstall it, then, be able to open up my iTunes again.

So here it is, the way to solve your unable to delete QuickTime error

If you’re trying to install iTunes on Windows and it fails during the Quicktime installation with a “-3? error, or you try to install Quicktime 7.0.3 on Windows and you get an Error 1714 or some complaint about not being able to find quicktime.msi even though it’s there, the way to fix it is to:

*Start/Run regedit

*Navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT –> Installer and select Products

*Use the Edit/Find menu to find quicktime inside that part of the key

*Delete the whole branch of the tree just ahead of the key where you found quicktime.msi

NOTE: I first tried deleting just the key with quicktime.msi and got the same errors so you have to delete the whole branch ahead of the key that contains quicktime.msi. I can’t remember the name of the folder but there was about 3 sub keys in it that got deleted in the process.

IT WORKS !! You should now be able to install Quicktime and iTunes without incident.
