Well my laptop was doing well untill friday when everything went wrong.

Before the incident I was Multi-tasking
Stalling Sro, youtube, yahoo/aim chatting.

Now I can barely run SRO by itself, because my cpu usage was is 100%, 99% of the time while running SRO now. I cant even watch a video on youtube, because it was like frame by frame (which is not normal). So I was wondering if you guys can help identify my problem? I have restored it to factory setting a few times now and its still the same, I'd doubt this has anything to do with any virus or w/e.

Also, I notice that my System Idle Process is using alot of the memory usage. So any help would be SUPER helpful!

sounds like you haven't restarted in a while but that can't be the case you've restored it to factory setting several time already, AND what do you mean before the "incident"? did you do anything at all that might have changed something.

Aside from that hold down "v" in silkroad when stalling and go to a deserted area of town. ( if you want "v" to keep all that people minimized just hold down "v" and hit the "Windows/start" button on your keyboard and click back on the game and everything should stay hidden.

Don't worry about System Idle Processes, they always take up the remaining RAM.
And could you post a screenie of your processes windows please.

you have a weak processor but considering you said it was fine before i dont know, very odd

Iono everytime I restart my comp my GHz is like the same as in the picture I posted, but when I turn it off for like 10minutes its at 1.40/1.40 ghz.

@Black, naw by incident I meant this lol I don't remember installing any new program within the past month.

Edit: A reminder, before this happend I can run SRO, watch youtube perfectly, and chat at the same time no problems.

I'm just guessing but are you sure that you graphical card isn't broken? Because you seem to have abnormally high levels of CPU usage when running graphical applications. (Youtube, SRO). My guess is that your processor now has to take care of all the things your graphical card does normally.

So say what you said is true, is there anything I can do beside buying a new Pc? I really dont want the new PC which has Vista already installed in it.

If what i say is true you can simply buy a new graphical card and put it in your motherboard.

i think makenshi might be right considering you have no processes that could be dragging down your computer other then sro of course, i would suggest getting it looked at by a professional IE geek squad or a local place.

What you can do is screw your PC open and check if the fan of your graphical card still works and feel on the other side if it heats up.
As a last resort you can try removing your graphical card and booting on the internal GPU of your motherboard. If you get the same results as you get now then your graphical card is toast

I built mine and it's sick nasty. I chose Vista because it's future compatible, but you could just buy XP for your OS.

Microsoft will be rolling out updates, service packs, and whatnot for Vista not XP from now on. I chose Vista because I don't want my OS to be a bottleneck.
I don't know why everyone whines about Vista so much. Sure I like XP, but I also like Vista. If you're computer savvy you can always find ways around problems that arise.

If this was a desktop pc I would be all over it, but too bad this is a laptop xD. Guess I would have to get a expert or a local pc shop to look at it I guess.

I have 2 PC's at home that run Vista, on my personal desktop I dual boot Ubuntu and XP (and i spend only 1% of my time on XP...).
Vista is a huge RAM hog for starters, it has a lot of compatibility issues, isn't as secure as it should be, ... I can go on.

Oh btw, I just found out that my fan in my laptop is not working, could this be a reason why this is happening?

In that case it might very well be that your processor is overheated! You should really let it get repaired asap.

yeah that could really do it, i would not turn it on again considering every time u do u raise the risk of frying just about everything in it.

It runs okay just like sitting there but i have it ontop of 4 little blocks so there is some space between the laptop and the computer desk. Can you tell me a price range so I can be prepared? I dont want to get jipped off with a ridiculous price to fix it. Thanks

i know at geek squad they will look at it for you and tell you what the problem is and how to fix it for $50 i dont know how much it would cost if they fixed it or anything like that. for local places it might be more might be less but if it seems to much for you dont do it and find another place.

Yeah, my warranty ended back in 2006 lol. Last night I tried to get to the fan in my laptop, thinking that some dust might have cause the problem but no luck lol. I got under the keyboard unscrewed everything but no luck lol. Anyway, thanks guys for the help

these 3 programs will help yo run sro more efficently but still 1.4 ghz is sorta low my laptop had that and i could barely play so this might help or might not
