edit: thanks to mereghost for pointing out my error on 9600 9800 ATI!!!! lol
since i had to do some reading up on ATI vs Geforce cos im thinking of getting a new card, i thought i would post what i found here. its not mean tot be a sticky cos im using a lot of bad spelling.
----> basically, it seems likely that lower end cards at or above GeForce Ti series will be able to run SRO well (per sys reqs for SRO)
-----> but the Geforce Ti range sux bad. Because it was beaten easily by anything in the ATI 9600 or 9800 range (which were roughly the same price).
-----> So if you are going to go Geforce, the cheapest you can get which is worthwhile for SRO is the Geforce FX 5700 and above. The FX series was designed to replace the suxxors Ti series, and it only became good enough to match the 9600 and 9800 in the 5700 range and above.
-----> BUt if you want go the expensive route and get the full beauty of SRO then: the ATI x800 and higher series are a good choice since the are designed to replace the 9600 and 9800 series. But at the moment, the Geforce 6 and 7 series (both superseding the FX series) are beating ATI's x800 series mainly due to Geforce's reputation with SLI technology (2 GPUs on one card). But these cards are so meaty im not sure it will make much of a difference.
so.. i am likly to go out and get an FX5700 or maybe a 9600 or 9800 if they are cheaper. currently FX5700 are dirt cheap.
anyone have any comments to add? feel free to discus..
