ok so, my start button wasnt showing up for about a week, so i decided to reinstall sro. well i dont know why but it got completely bugged. next thing i deleted sro of my comp and redownloaded the client through Filefront. when i started installing it my firewall started bugging me. ones i fixed that, the instalation comes to 99% and then i get a runtime error message just as a firewall message comes up telling me that it's trying to makea new dirrectory.
runtime messae:
microsoft visual C++ runtime directory
~directory thingy~
this application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unussual way. please contact the application's support team for more information.
ok so, im blaming the firewall but the problem is that it doesnt really respond to the dont ask this again button. so every time it asks me to late, and since it isn't an actual file (i think)yet, i cant manually set my firewal to allow it
help pls, sorry if this is the wrong place

Did some googling and found several people with the same problem as you have. As far as I can see, their problem got solved by installing the latest videocard drivers and the latest version of DirectX.

What are you using for firewall software? From the error message it sounds like it's trying to create a temporary file for it to copy and uninstall into, but your firewall is stopping it from doing that. Some security suites won't allow programs to make their own directories as part of it's protection against viruses. What you can always do is download the file and save it to your desktop or somewhere and when you go to run the installer just disable your firewall software and see if it installs then. Just don't forget to turn it back on after your done.
Also Microsoft has a hotfix that might work for you.

Here is a list of things you should consider doing....
1. Download and reinstall directX
2. Download and reinstall your Video Drivers
3. Scan your computer for viruses and finally if all fails do a repair of windows.
Even thoug u might have the latest drivers, nothing wrong in uninstalling and reinstalling the latest drivers
Good Luck, and let me know if there is anything else that comes up.
