Trouble connecting after patch

Post by Bandito »

Ever since the patch last night, I have not been able to log on to SRO. The game ran fine before that. I get the following message displayed when I click 'Start':
"Generic application error. Enable debug output for detailed information. Switching to the reference rasterizer, a software device that implements the entire Direct3D feature set, but runs very slowly."

If I click 'Ok' on that box, another one pops up:
"Warning: Nothing will be rendered. The reference rendering device was selected, but your computer only has a reduced-functionality reference device installed. Install the DirectX SDK to get the full reference device."

I re-installed the latest version of directx and the directx SDK thing, but I still get the message. Anyone know how to fix this problem? Thanks.

Nevermind, I fixed it somehow. No idea what I did, but whatever it was it worked :)

I sometimes get this after the game freezes and I have to force quit it from the task manager. Are you using an nvidia graphics card on a machine with onboard ATI graphics, by any chance? Anyway, it fixes itself when I restart.

If you get this error again, go to the Start Menu -> Run -> dxdiag -> [Enter]. Run the D3D test. If your problem is the same as mine, all three tests will fail with errors. I haven't found a way to prevent it but a restart fixes it until the next crash.
