Hmmmm...another friend of mine who has already started with silkroad (lvl 21) keeps getting this error now and then. He says that it keeps getting worse. (I know this error isn't good enough) but thats the only one he gets.
I'm just wondering if anyone else gets it.

I sometimes get it on other games, most of the time i get it when i force close a game, haven't gotten it with silkroad i don't think though....pretty sure it is just something that pops up when a program is closed suddenly or something

if it does it EVERY time you open the game, then i had the same problem when i hooked up my router so that i could play with my wife at the same time. i think it has to do with host resolution, but not sure.

if you're using Windows XP, try this out, it's what fixed both of ours.

-browse to C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc
-open up the file named 'hosts' in notepad (it has no extension)
-add a new line on the end of the file that says this:
222.111.150.111 gwgt1.joymax.com

-save it, close it, and try running the game. hopefully it works like a charm

you should undo that before a new patch comes.. or your update might be affected.

i've never had any problem patching it with this fix in, neither has my wife.
the only thing it does is help map names to IP addresses. the only time i
could see it being a problem is if joymax changes the IP for the server. other
than that, i can't see why it would be a problem.

in our case, the game ran fine until i installed a router so we could both get
on. as soon as i did it, the game didn't work on either computer anymore,
and gave that error every time we tried to start it up. i'm assuming now that
something with the router's NAT was screwing it up, but i guess i'll never
know.

i found the fix posted by some guy on the silkroadonline site's horrible
horrible forum. did it, and both of them worked ever since. and no, i DID NOT
say that the fix was official, it was posted by a user on the site, not an admin
or any other rep of joymax.

Wow, thanks alot for that tip. I was tearing my hair out trying to fix this error problem. I would have never thought of adding thier ip to the hosts file. Sheesh.

:)

Nice Solution!!!
