Ok, first thing I'd like to say, I'm no noob. I've played this game for a long time now, and have found solutions to almost all connection problems. But what I have now is completely bizarre.

The problem began yesterday, as I was playing on my character. I went AFK for about 3 minutes, and when I came back, I saw I got DCed. Fine, that happens (although rarely). But that's where things went wrong. Ever since that DC, whenever I try to run the client, it doesn't start up, and after 40 seconds or so, it would give me the "Server is undergoing inspection or updates" error. I've tried everything short of formatting my drive, from re-forwarding the ports on the router to uninstalling and reinstalling the game. I have absolutely no idea what's causing this problem.

Do note, I have not changed, altered or edited the game files in any way. I have not downloaded nor installed/uninstalled any software or hardware. I have tried resetting my router and modem to no avail. I have a router, but no firewall and no software is blocking the game.

Also, unlike other people here, I AM able to connect to silkroadonline.net, and browse the website freely.

I now turn to this community, to seek others who might have experienced this same problem and know of a solution. I've seen posts of this kind of problem before, but it would always be gone in a matter of minutes to hours. I've waited for over 36 hours now...
Please, if you could figure out what could be causing this problem, help me!

BIG EDIT: The solution had just been posted on the official forums. If anyone else has this problem, the solution is to add the following lines to your c:\windows\system\drivers\etc\HOSTS file:

127.0.0.1
121.128.133.26 gwgt2.joymax.com

*Note: Previous guides mentioned to add the line 121.128.133.26 gwg1.joymax.com , which appears to be faulty. Yay, I can play again!

Does'nt work for me.

I can't login for 48 hours.
I don't get even the "server is under ... bla bla"
I can't get in the site - "the page cannot be displayed ... bla bla"

This just happened to me about 8 hours ago. anyone know how to fix this? it would greatly be appreciated...

Wow...I have the exact same problem:

1. Cant run the client..(Server undergoing inspection blah blah blah)
2. I cant access http://www.silkroadonline.net (page cannot be displayed)
3. Cant Change password on Joymax portal ( email verification page not displaying properly)

PS I also have not changed any configuration on my computer, nor installed any new program

I experienced this problem when i have to forcibly exit SRO due to no response.... NOT LAG cause other players are moving around me and talking to me etc... When i tried to log back in, I cant execute SRO anymore

my friend told me that he read the silkroadonline.net forum (coz i cant access it) and it was written there that they banned the ips or SIMILAR ips of hackers/bots/etc. i think thats unfair to us who have those similar IPs. i hope joymax resolves this soon.

man the same thing happened to me.
Ever since the Dec 10th update, i could neither access the main sro page nor launch sro.
I've tried editing the hosts files with diff IPs, changed firewall settings, etcetc.
For sure it has to do with the IPs because when i use leech off my neighbor's internet everything works.
Help is appreciated =)

You should try the solution from the TS (Topic Starter).
But silkroad seems to switch once in a while. So if

127.0.0.1
121.128.133.26 gwgt2.joymax.com

doesn't work then try

127.0.0.1
121.128.133.26 gwgt1.joymax.com

it's really weird. It's still not working.
grr.. think Joymax might have blocked my IP or sth..

hey, after coming back to try sr with a european character, i installed sr yesterday. after playing for a few hours i left and went to bed. i got up the next morning had breakfast and got ready for work, but had a few hours till i had to leave, so thought i might play a bit.
went to launch sr and server was apperently down, so i checked the website and there was no server checks on so i tried again, but to no avail.
so i looked around the forums for help and found a thread to the host file altering thing, which i did, then rebooted, but still couldnt get in.
so i rang my friend who also plays, and he said that sometimes this hapens to him, but all he has to do is click on guide (in the sr launcher) and an internet page will appear, although with chinese writing(the page is quite similiar to a page not available internet site, just in chinese), and all you have to do is press refresh untill it refreshes into the actual sr guide page, then it will work.
so i tried this although i could never get to the actual sr guide page so i gave up.
now i have come back to the forums seeking assistence,
i no that i am more fortunate then others as i can get to the sr website, although it doesnt make anything better.
has anyone got it working yet?
