Just inherited my mums pc, formatted it and can't get sound. I usually just plugged my sound in and I got sound.

How do I find out which driver I need? I have onboard sound and I don't know the mobo name.

If you go to Control Panel > System >Hardware Tab > If there is a driver in that list with a name something like "Microsoft audio controller", choose to update it, automatically from the web and wait a couple of minutes.

If that doesn't fix it, try driverguide.com

Start > Run > dxdiag
