Hello,

I didn't use my DVD drive for quite a while and when I tried to input a newly bought CD it didn't work. Other CD's didn't work either.

Here is a photo of my Drive (in German).

It says that it is working properly but it just won't even recognize any CD if it is in the drive.

I didn't check for any new drivers yet, but I doubt that this will be necessary since I didn't even make any changes anyways! So plz help :banghead:

I've the same problem. My burner stopped to work, it couldn't read any Cd's anymore. Today it just is there, useless.

It might be because the laser doesn't work anymore, or there are some trouble with the cables from the power supply to the DVD drive.

Curiosity sake, is your system a piece-together or a brand name? (And if brand name, which company?)

Yeah, it seems to be kind of a curse with me...since I'm living kind of I've always had problems with my CD drives...once they didn't even stop turning the CD and when I opened it the CD was still turning at about 1000 turn/min and it was flying through the whole room lol...but that's another story.

It's got "X Phoenix" written on it...so it's rather a brand name and it's got a Pentium 4...
