Constantly Crashing (Found Solution, Might Work For You)

Post by Spellbinder »

I am truly at my wit's end. I was fine with having to take twenty minutes to log in. But I literally cannot play for more than 10 minutes without my computer rebooting. The screen simply goes black, and reboots randomly.

I have redownloaded the client from various resources, uninstalled and reinstalled it. I have tried official video card drivers, NGO video card drivers, and Omega video card drivers, driver clearner pro, etc. over and over trying to make something work, and it's always the same.

I can't play this game anymore until I can find a solution, and I'm hoping somewhere here can help me accomplish that.

Simply put, I'm tired of spending more time logging in than playing. :(

Hardware? Operating system? Ram? Video card specs?

It sounds like the newer bigger silkroad is overwhelming your computer, either the running program exceeds the size of your memory+swapfile or the new graphics are more than your video card can handle. The black screen and reboot is cured by many by getting more recent drivers directly from the manufacturer of the computer or video card. Remember to uninstall the previous driver before installing the new one. No other 3rd party driver software is recommended.

Windows XP Professional SP2
AMD Sempron 2600+ 1.6 GHz
512 MB of RAM
Virtual Memory currently set to 1500 to 2000 MB
Radeon 9600 video card

Before the Europe update, my computer ran the game flawlessly, and now it's come down to this. And as I said before I tried several drivers cleaning with driver cleaner pro before trying each one, the first being original and up to date manufacturer drivers. Most of the time the original drivers were actually worse than 3rd party.

To add insult to injury, I managed to get the game to play for several hours today on a laptop with these specs.

Windows XP Home Edition
Intel Celeron 1.6 GHz
128 MB of RAM
Virtual Memory set to 1500 to 2000 MB
"SiS 651_661FX_741_760_760GX_M661FX_M661MX_M741_M760_M760GX" Integrated Graphics Card

If it can run on that horrible piece of poo, then I'm fairly certain SRO isn't simply overwhelming my desktop. There's gotta be more to it than that.

this game is more bugged then ever, they simply released a patch that isnt compatible with so many things and therefor the client keeps crashing or getting dc'ed or c9'ed.

on the official forums morningdrool posted a topic on possible solutions, but offer no technical support what so ever. my client keeps crashing and wont even respond in task manager, which pisses me off like mad.

this game is such a bitch, worst possible mmo ever when it comes to tech support. they just keep running their faulty game, without taking a serious look at all the bugs

I solved my problem in the most hilarious way possible.

1.) I uninstalled all the drivers

2.) I ran a driver cleaner to make sure I deleted everything

3.) Shut off my computer

4.) Took out the video card.

5.) Plugged the monitor into my motherboard, and updated the onboard video drivers.

I find this so funny, we pay good money for a video cards to work, and it's when you get rid of it you finally get it working.
