I installed Silkroad earlier today, and have been trying to get it to run for several hours now, first problem was "Detected Abnormal Process: (System Error)", but i fixed that by running it in win98 compatibility mode. This allowed me to get updates, and get to the screen with the start button. But, now after i click Start, the gameguard thing will load, and do its thing, then when its done, sro_client will show up in the task manager (it never hits the taskbar) for about 10 seconds, then close out.

Im really not sure what to do, every few weeks, i try to get into this game, and never have managed to even get to character creation due to the errors, its starting to seem like this game is way too much trouble to be worth it...

Specs: Running Win2k, latest updates, latest video drivers/etc. Firewall unloaded, no antivirus/adwatch programs loaded while trying to load. 1gb of Ram, Geforce FX5600 256mb, MSI KT3 Ultra2 Mobo, 1.5ghz AMD processor. Not sure what other info could be useful...

I'm not sure, man. It's definitely something that you're running that is interfering with SRO, but the question is which process to stop. I created a new account in XP and used that...and SRO started up. Try and see if that works for ya'.
