Installing on a CD/DVD or Flash

I was wondering if it is possible to install the game on a flash drive or CD/DVD without having to install on my computer and be able to play from it.

Naturally you can't install the game on a CD/DVD (i.e. burn it's folder) because the game wouldn't be able tp update itself.
And a flash drive would have to be 3GB in size at least.
Also, I think the game can be installed only on hard drives, and not on any kind of removable drives.
