silkroad.exe wont launch.

I know that many people have been experiencing similar problems.. but everything I have read and tryed has not worked.
Heres a list of things I have tryed that I remember..

Installing newest Nvidia drivers for my 7950GT gfx card.
Installing April 2007 Direct X 9.0c.
Installing 3 silkroad installers (one 1.01, two 1.02)
manually updating to 1.61, then 1.65.. then safemode with networking to 1.98.
modifying host file

theres probably more, I cant remember (and yes, I rebooted many many times.)

I've been at this for 2-3 hours and have an exam tomorrow.. so, hopefully someone can help me out here.
The shortcut simply wont launch. silkroad.exe appears in my processes for 1 second, then disappears.
I've also tryed turning off all firewalls and antivirus programs, Btw.
Windows XP SP2
e6600 dual core 2.4GHz, 2GB ram.. (It was working before my last reformat :\ )
New things would include a fresh windows install, new firewall (which I have tryed disableing), OCing my processor (which kind of failed - so I reset bios to default.), and no CD / DVD drive due to the fact I needed the IDE cable for my extra HDD.

sorry for the wall of text. hopefully someone can help me.

It doesn't load at all? No error messages? Nothing? You're administrator?

Yes I am admin. It just launched in my taskman processes.. then closes.

btw; silkroads launcher actually comes up in safe mode w/ networking (but obvious you cant play games in safe mode.) so I guess it must be some software / driver issue.. mmm
any suggestions as to what I should try?

Close everything in the background. I suspect it's your antivirus or some sort of anti-malware program. Update their definitions and the program (if available).

I found the solution to my problem.
Windows was blocking it with DEP.
Try this.. Right click my computer, go to properties, advanced, settings, Data Execution Prevention and then either add silkroad manually or check off turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only.
This was also causing me problems with my media player.. thats how I found out about it in the first place

thx for the help
