Hey everyone, well I quit SRO a while back and I decided I wanted to play again and make a pure int spear nuker. So I download and installed sro and patched it but when I open it I get a Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Error. If anyone could help me with this I would be really happy.
Thanks.

This isn't my computer so I don't want to mess up if I have to update it. The main forums never help either. Whenever I post a topic on the Technical Help board it gets pushed to the second page by people who make 10 characters to spam the same thread

I use a laptop and the print Scrn button is below insert, on the same key. But when I press it and try to paste the picture in paint there's nothing to paste
Shoes I just tell you what the message says?

C++ errors are normaly caused by Graphic Card drivers that aren't up-to-date, and therefore are not sufficient to play the game. What's your garphicscard and O/S? Tell me that and I'll get you the link to the newest drivers.

I don't know what they are. This isn't my normal computer so I wouldn't know. Is there a way to find out?

It's quite simple - go to Start > Run... and in the text box type "dxdiag" and hit Enter. the DirectX Diagnostic tool will open up. Your O/S should appear on the first page, while your card name should appear under the Display tab.

My OS is Microsoft Windows XP Home editing (5.1, Build 2006)
I'm guessing my card name is where it says Name, if so: Intell(R) 830M Graphics -0

Here is the link to the latest drivers for you card. However I'm not sure your game would run very well on such a card. This is an onboard integrated card, and not a very powerful one at that. You would probably have to run the game on reduced graphic quality. I'd recommend you buy a third-party video card from nVidia or ATI for better performance. Or at least bring this up to the owner of the laptop

I'm not going to worry about game quality as long as I can see it. And again, this isn't my normal computer so I won't worry about it.
Do I just download the driver thing and run it? And does it take up space on my computer?

It does take up some space but it should be no more than a few MBs.
It is recommended, however, that you go to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs, and remove from there any graphic drivers you find (You may have to restart the computer after that). However, since you are installing a new version of drivers that are already installed on your system, it is not a neccessity, and furthermore, the driver-install application might even have the option to do this for you. If you do not wish to risk removing anything that you should not, then don't do this. However, should you encounter graphic problems after installing the drivers, you SHOULD, by all means, uninstall any existing drivers and reinstall the file I gave you, since overwriting drivers with newer versions does, in some cases, cause problems...

What are the chances that it can cause problems? This isn't my computer and I don't want to mess it up.

It differs from one card to another, so I can't really tell you. But you shouldn't worry, even if these problems do occur, you will only encounter them in 3d applications, and they are easy to fix - as I've said, simply uninstall all graphic drivers and reinstall the driver package.

You're welcome. If any graphic problems do arise when you're in-game, just do as I've said. remove and reinstall the drivers. That should fix it. If not... well this is what this forum is for

The C++ Error is simply a matter of updating your graphic card's drivers. If you don't know how to do it, I'm willing to help you like I helped Firebolt

just tell me what your graphic card and O/S are, and I'll get you the link.

Which kind? Graphic lag or Connection lag? If it's the latter I can't do much, except to advise you to switch to another ISP (and use a wire connection). If it's the former then I also can do nothing but advise you to get a better graphic card

If your game plays normally without errors and graphic glitches then you probably don't need to update your card. I get it too sometimes, about once every 5 times I start the game. It's just a bug I suppose.
@Vandall: I've sent you a reply.

Same with me - sometimes my game crashes like that too, however without the "????" message. I think it might have something to do with Dual-core/Core 2 Duo technology, since it's never happened before I upgraded my processor and motherboard.
But, like you said, it happens only seldomly, so I just ignore it.
