For all those having a problem with Vista

I believe the problem is related to having a dual core processor + Vista. Hear me out. I ran silkroad and Vista just fine until I upgraded my processor to a dual core - nothing else only CPU. After that the game crashes ~50% of the time on start-up.

The problem! I think the Silkroad Client is looking for something from Gameguard when it's first starting up. In a single-core system, GG (which started first) beats SRO no problem. However, in a dual core system this isn't always the case.

The solution! You have to wait when you first launch silkroad before hitting start. Using Vista's sidebar CPU gadget, idle CPU for me is 2%. I load silkroad - it jumps to about 14 and then it drops down to 2. The start button appears, and then the CPU meter jumps to about 6%. If I just wait for a few seconds, it drops down to 2% again and then I can start Silkroad w/o any problems at all. Unfortunately, this doesn't always work if you have a lot of other stuff in the background. If you have background tasks you can't close, you're just down to luck.

Hopefully this can help other people.
