For some reason there is no play button or anything on the launch window when it comes up. I've redownloaded the game 3 times and still don't know what the problem is. Can someone help me?
P.s. I though my DirectX might be a problem, but I updated it to Directx 9.0c and it still doesn't show a play button.

how long of a chance do you give it? The start button is the last one on the right. you might have updates and stuff that will make it take a little while. Give it a like 5 minutes once.

most probably this is caused because your unable to get the connection to silkroad. i'm pretty sure the start button appear if it detects if you have the latest version, and somehow you are unable to let silkroad recive this information. You use a firewall or router?
check this thread too:

Ah yes, this is caused because your connection isn't allowing Silkroad.
did you try what was mentioned in the thread I posted?

by stefybau09
no, i can't go to that thread. i can't go to any part of the silkroad website. something wont allow any of their pages to load. -sorry if it takes a bit to answer- a tree just about fell on our house. like 2 inches away, so ive been helping clean up-

I didn't think about that.
I will just copy and paste from the thread:
1. Go to C/Windows/system32/drivers/etc
2. Open hosts with notepad
3. Add 222.111.150.111 gwgt1.joymax.com under 127.0.0.1 localhost
4. Save and open silkroad.

let's do a tracert to troy server, troy's server ip is 222.111.150.120
open the command promt and type: tracert 222.111.150.120
The problem you experience might be caused because the ISP you use.
after the tracert you should be able to copy and paste the information.

Press the start button, then choose Run.
In the field type cmd and then press Enter, that's the command promt.

Where do you guys live? And what ISP do you use? the problem seems simple..you're not able to get a connection to joymax. Anyone of you use a router?

it's most probably your ISP. Call them and explain the problem. Maybe they have a web page?
And..how were you able to install the game if you can access the web page?

and i wont call the isp because the people there are dumb. they couldnt even help us before when our dsl went out. we had to go up to the box down the road and do it ourselves.

Well, you aren't even able to show their web page. You need to contact the ISP you are using. Telephone's always best, because they have to answer directly.
Maybe there is a setting the ISP can do, or you have to change ISP.
i think that if the servers and Joymax was located in USA you would be able to play, but because they are in Korea you aren't.
EDIT: well, if they are dumb. then i guess changing ISP is your only choose. But before doing that, you know anyone with another ISP, can they play the game?

not really. we cant change isp because the only ones that will reach out here are like aol and stuff, and not only would it be dial-up, but they would charge an extra long distance charge. our dsl comes from the local phone company. there's gotta be something i can do. i just wish i could get on their website myself and check stuff out. or at least try downloading it from the main site. think i should try to use firefox to get on the website instead of IE? if so i can d/l it in no time i'm sure.

hm..go to Internet explorer, then choose Tools, and settings.
And then connections and then settings. there you can type proxy.
I'm not sure about the correct translation, I use a Swedish version of Explorer.

lol, but there are many other games you can play. which are made in korea too.
Try KAL Online, it's supposed to be very similar as Silkroad Online.
