Help with windows vista

i have been able to get silkroad to work on vista for like a day... but then when i turned it off my computer and turned it on the next day to play it didnt work.

the problem is when it verifies my account and its about to load the character screen and it just freezes...
i have tried reinstalling the client and even redownloading the installer more than once.
if any body has had this problem and has fixed it it would be a really big help if you could tell me how to fix it
