Game Freeze

I don't know if it's just my computer but every time i try to play Silkroad the game just freezes. It usualy starts fine but after a while the image freezes but the sound continues to play and the cursor changes shape if i pass over a monster. Apparentely everything is ok but without a change in the image i don't know were i am.
There are other times when it freezes on the login screen, but that is rare. So far the only way to get out is with control + alt + del.
It started to happen after the most recent updates. I have a Athlon XP 2000+@2600+, 512MB DDR PC3200, ATI Radeon 9600XT. I've tried updating the graphic card's drivers but it's no use.

Um, maybe some serious lag. I get this from time to time. Have you tried to wait a few extra seconds? When I get this, the game continues to work except that everything is freezed like you said. Sometimes its up to a half minute or more, wich may feel like a really long time. I can push one of the number buttons and it will show on the screen that it is pushed (it gets marked).
Haven't experienced that login freeze, so maybe your problem is of another kind.

hmmm... i too get this sometimes... it is not for a long duration, however, what i do to fix this problem.. lower the resolution of the video card, and if you're using free mode to play and view the environment, look directly above yourself... meaning try placing the camera free mode so that only you are visible on the screen (on top of char)... it seems (to me) that the more rendering your graphics card has to do, the more of a lag type feel your game produces... anyways, just my .02 cents and what i've exp...

Those tips may work in the game but what about the login screen freeze? There graphic card shouldn't do that much processing during the login screen, as opposed to the actual game.
I can click the buttons but only get a sound confirmation that i clicked something, it's a total image freeze.

Only suggestion I can give is to try and downgrade your gfx driver and update your chipset driver.
