Keep on hanging/Crashing

Everytime i go out of the city, especially across the bridge area, where theres tigers, bandits area, after a while, my monitor will simply blank out, just like power saving mode, and i cannot get back either to game, or to my windows, regardless of alt-del etc methods. Thus i can only press the reset button on my computer.

Funny thing is, i can roam around in city, for hours with no problem but the problem happens the moment i step out of city, to start training.

Ive download all the drivers/files thats available on the offical website, even the latest drivers for my graphic card from the graphic card offical website. My graphic card is Radeon 9800.

I've reinstalled the game a few times, yet still the same problem.

Ive played other games like Lineage 2, World of Warcraft, battlefield 2, with no problems at all.

Ive emailed the JoyMax twice regarding this problem, yet still no responds from them. (Doubt they would even respond)

Anyone got any solutions, or encountering the same problem as me?

Hmm... very odd issue indeed...

I suspect the most likely cause is the graphics card. Quite frequently I hear of troubles concerning ATI cards and, more specifically, their official drivers.

There is a website somewhere that provides improved, unofficial versions of the latest ATI drivers available. Unfortunately, having looked a bit around Google for links, I was unable to find the place. Perhaps you will have more luck than I did in searching, or another forum user may know the site I'm talking about and provide you with a link.

Apart from this, I can only suggest the usual- Defrag your harddrive, doublecheck drivers and DirectX, make sure your computer isn't overheating or switching to powersaving mode for some reason, and perhaps even run some diagnostics on your system memory (I suggest memtest86). Of course, all this is if you can be bothered just for one game. :) But if there's any game worth that amount of hassle to get working, I'd say it's Silkroad.

Good luck in any case. I hope it works out for you in the end.

Thanks Moogie for your respond.

I think i will try to run those memory/system scan and try to defrag my com, hope it can work. However from some forums i read, seems like other drivers are causing the problems too, such as their sound card driver etc, and once they disable them, it work. Guess gotta trial and error.

Thanks again!

Nope, it still doesn't work, all drivers already updated, harddisk Defragged. I doubt it's my virtual memory, since i got 1 gig of RAM, plus games like battlefield 2 and lineage 2, which their requirements are higher are no problem for my com.

I read again in some other forums, it seems as what Moogie said, as some people with similar problems like mine also have the problem related to ATI graphic cards, or with ATI graphic cards, and some other drivers, like sound card affecting it.

I am having the same problem. It seemed to come up only after this weeks update. I found that if I lower the Graphic Quality from High to Normal I am able to play outside the city without crashes.

I also usually lower the quality to Low when ever I am in the city to accomodate for the lag.

Try and see if this works. I have an ATI card also.

as mentioned in the other thread its probably a chipset driver issue..

i had this problem eariler (i hv a motherboard with nvidia chipset)... i noticed that the driver version specified by the chipset manufacturer is higher than the driver version mentioned by the motherboard manufacturer.. so i updated it to the one according the chipset manufacturer and it solved the problem..

its always good to update to the latest chipset driver as per manufacturer's version...good luck..

No badly written game is worth any hassle to get working, and silkroad definately is such a game.
