It is.
Anyway, I would recommend a duel boot, with win xp.
And no, if you knew anything about linux, you would know that all windows files don't work on linux.

I mean you didn't configure wine's network settings correctly. You get that message if the client can't connect to Joymax's servers.

I hate how people don't know shit about linux.
Linux is way better than windows, and there's user version and server version.
I have ubuntu and it's great.
you can run sro on ubuntu i think using Cedega but it's 5$ a month
I've been trying to run my wow over ubuntu using wine but i failed xD
Still new to linux.

sro works perfectly under linux ...
the only thing is ... GAMEGUARD DOESNT and you still need gameguard to start/check sro.
so back to windows for you!

That's true, but you can just disable it. Gamgeaurd doesn't actually do anything at the moment. I would suggest getting the bot client (not to bot) but beceuase it by passes gameguard (which once again doesn't do anything that it's supposed to). If you play on linux, you'll porlly have better performance than on windows unless the emulation takes up too much processor time.

SRO does run under Ubuntu 6.06. I had some trouble with my windows install, so I went back to Ubuntu.
I installed the OS, then Wine, then installed the game. The game installed a desktop icon and completed the update. I clicked on the Start button and the game took me to the logon screen. I entered my logon info and clicked connect. I got to the Image verification screen and had some trouble getting in due to server crowding. After about 20 tries, I was able to log in and play the game.
The game plays in Ubuntu linux, using Wine.
It is NOT perfect, but it does play. I will edit the details of what works and what does not after a full evaluation.

I've got it working in kubuntu 6.10 and 7.04 and wine on my laptop. Doesn't work perfectly though.

You have to edit GG, which is illegal.

i run Ubuntu Edgy (6.10).. I came across this server prompt also on boot of the game. According to earlier posts I am to change the IP in wine? I am fairly new to Linux and Wine, could someone clear up exactly how this problem is solved?
