SOLVED: New Problem (lol) -- Any ideas?

Code: Select all

SOLUTION:  I turned off my modem, disabled my NIC, enabled DHCP, changed my NIC, turned on my modem, and flushed my ipconfig.  Now I'm downloading flawlessly!

This might solve numerous other problems, I'm thinking they flag IP's.

Well, I usually have an answer for problems like these, but this one is baffling.

I tried to do a clean install of SRO using the base client provided on their website. It installs just peachy, and the loader pops up. Mabe 2% through the patching process I get an error (No screenshot because I know it verbatim), that states:

Patching is not completed. Please try again. [ Error Code(4) ]

Sometimes, it's a code 3, others, it is a code 4. Now it may have something to do with my services, but I can't think what. I only tried this clean install because I was getting the (C7) error at the login screen, which is new to me as well.

If anyone has any idea how to resolve this issue, I would be very appreciative, seeing as I can't even load the client.

UPDATE: I tried to download another users sro_client.exe (v1.088), and update with that, however it was unsuccessful. I also downloaded the manual patch available via xFire, and this allowed me to get to 98% before I recieved the error, and now I get a BSLib runtime debug error everytime I load the client.

I just did another clean install, awaiting any ideas :)

Uninstall SRO completely from any and all hard drives, then try reinstalling.

Usually works for me.

As I said, I already did this, I even hand-modified the registry to remove all old records of it.

It is a clean install of windows, I have pretty much backbone XP SP2 running, and I put everything erroneous on a partition. I'm looking for someone with technical knowledge to answer.

When you downloaded the installer from their website, did you get the most current one, or did you use an older version that you originally used when you started playing SRO? I know you mentioned you used a friend's 1.088 client, but is that the most recent version from SRO's website? I've never seen that error before so I don't really know what to say except to make sure you're using the most recent version of the installer.

If you're installing on a clean, fresh install of XP with the most recent version of the SRO installer, it should work without a problem. Did anything change on your computer (hardware wise) from the time SRO worked until the time you reinstalled it and failed? Check to see if all your drivers are up to date.

Only other thing I can think of is there are some additional drivers and patches on SRO's download section you could try.

I don't know if that's much help, but hopefully you'll get it to work.
