Not starting up for me??

When I click of the SilkRoad Icon (client), usually nothing happens and then nothing I click on will open. I have to then restart my computer. There has been a few times when it will actually open then I hit "Start", a box will then pop up in the left hand corner saying connecting.. or what ever, but then it will close out and once again nothing happens. Then I can't open anything anymore, until I restart my computer. Hopefully someone can give me a solution. My friend has it on his computer and its working fine. I also meet the system requirements.

im assuming the little box in the corner is the nProtect agent. How long have you left it after that little box has dissapeared?
There is a mid sized wait once that connecting box has dissapeared before the game starts up for me.
Give it 5 or so minutes and try again. It could just be thinking long and hard about it.

I let it sit there for about 5-6 minutes, still nothing. So, I restarted my computer and re-downloaded the client. I'm re-installing it right now.

do you run the program from file or are you going throught your start button?
Start > all programs >joymax > Silkroad > Silkroad ?
Maybe you were opening the wrong thing as ive done that before...

I had a icon on my desktop, but I tried going through the Start menu, but just does the same thing. It doesn't even have a "SilkRoad.exe" in my processes window. My room mate (which is the one who found the game and installed it on my computer first) said that it let him play the game the first time he tried, but then I guess the computer either crashed or the game froze up. After that he said it wouldn't let him play.

Are you still downloading the client again or have you already reinstalled it?

I read this post, "http://www.silkroadforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=31"
and the reply was, " I cracked my firewall. blah blah blah, thx." now could I be having his problem because of my settings. If I'm correct my firewall is disabled already.

When you say that nothing else will open after you click the Silkroad exe, what exactly do you mean by that? No programs at all on your computer will run, or just games (or am I just confused by what you said)?
Also, system specs please?

I mean anything.... I'll click on Internet Explorer or Firefox and nothing pops up. It will show it in the Processes tab of Taskmanager, but nothing. Same with games, anything. I even tried to go to Add/Remove Programs, and it wouldn't even let me into that.

besides the motherboard and a few grades we pretty much have the same setup. no idea why it wont work for you man
try updating your nvidia drivers. its fixed my game related problems 3 out of 5 times.
Even if you already got the up to date version install it again in case some important files went astray.

Well, I finally figured it out, actually I figured it out 2 days ago, but anyways. It was because I had spyware/adaware on my computer.... FYI: AVG Free SUCKS!!! I scanned my computer with that and found 4 things. I then used Symantec and it found 12. AVG is terrible.
