So When it comes to the end of my problem and many other people, I guess it has to do with the silk road servers and how there weak. I have a dell dimension 4600. Its a P4 running at 2.6 ghz with 128 mb geforce fx 5200 with 512 mb ram. Most users state that its the server problem so why is silk road releasing new servers when there old ones are so laggy? Id rather get those fixed up first than having too many unstable laggy servers that people arent too happy about. THanx. Geforce fx 5200 (128 MB) good enough for silk road? Please help me out if you have it or have an idea

More servers = greater distribution of players = not so many people in one server = less lag
Clear as mud? :)
Not quite

It sure makes sense but dont you think even if servers are at there peek they should be lagging as hard as they currently do. Considering the fact that your character moves after 4-5 seconds after a command is given?

You'd be surprised what a few thousand people can do to a server that wasn't properly set up/maintained (esp. if the person setting it up doesn't know what they're doing).

Players aren't going to delete their characters to move to a different server. Most, anyhow.

Yeh Mostly Lower levels on other servers will to be one of the top players on a new or people at 60 that are bored of their server.

baka, your comp specs mean nothing to do with online lag, they increase servers = more spread out, less 100000000 people vending in towns, and also, you people should know, you can't exactly ' fix ' a server when the server is over flooded, only thing you can do is upgrade/ replace it.
Lag - honestly

I know it's a free mmog and all, but the lag is probably the largest issue prohibiting people from playing. Several friends of mine have given up playing because of the atrocious lag. They still come by to look at the screens of very cool effects, interesting environments, curious models, etc., but they are unwilling to play, even for free, on some game that has such terrible lag.

With Servers, it's more than just 'Over Flooding'. working in the IT field, i can tell you that people with 'high ping', people with slow connections, etc are likely to cause more lag than anyone else.
I wanted to suggest to the GM's about monitoring servers and kicking people off with high ping...or just plain make servers for people with different connection speeds.

you guys are missing the point here..... SRO/joymax can release 1million servers tomorrow for all i and you should care:
more servers does not equal less people on each, more servers only equals less NEW people on each. so on xian say they had 2000 players accts. before oasis they STILL have 2000 accts after oasis opened therefore no lag fix. the lag fix is a hardware upgrade or software thing they have to take care of on a server by server basis

I've never had problems with lag. I have had GIANT spikes but they're rare and far between. 95% of them have been out of town too... This makes me wonder, maybe it has to do with server location/isp and (or) system specs?
I don't mean to sound rude or anything, but usually people who play free games don't exactly have the cash to spend on a great computer. Again, doesn't apply to everyone.
