New Computer Issues

I recently built myself a new rig.

Specs:
AMD Athlon X2 64 4200+ (2.2GHz)
2 Gigs Ram
Nivida GeForce 7600 GT

My old machine (1.8GHz P4, 512 Ram, GeForce FX 5200) had no where near these specs and didn't have any issues running SRO.

With my new machine the game will sometimes freeze at the log in, a hard stop. The only way to get by it is to restart the computer. This doesn't always happen. Sometimes the game will start and run with out a hick-up.

I was just wondering if anyone could help me pen point the problem. I've updated/reinstalled all drives and the game it self a few times. Does SRO not like AMD or what?

Any input would be great, this is driving me nuts![/list]

What motherboard are you using now? As well as what type of ram?

If these 2 components arent playing right, it could cause the problems you are having.

I did have issues with the ram at first, it was ECC and my motherboard takes non-ECC. But that has been fixed.

RAM: G.SKILL 1GB 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) x2
MOBO: Abit KN8 (http://www.abit-usa.com/products/mb/techspec.php?categories=1&model=284)

Also note i only have this issue with SRO. All other programs i have tried work flawlessly. But I have yet to try a different game...

Is your memory in the same colored slots? eg. Bank1 and Bank2 are the same color, while Bank3 and Bank4 are the same colors.

Have you at any point of your build done a full CMOS clear? If not, it could help. It might not have your memory auto configured properly.

Same problem :?

AMD Athlon64 3000+
512mb ram

I too have a Nivida GeForce 7600 GT.

We have the same problem, both have AMD and both use the same Gfx card, something tells me this is not a coincidence :(

Yes, the ram is installed into the 1 & 2 slots. I have cleared the CMOS and flashed the bios. The issues is still there.

Maybe Xenoche is correct. This config is not good for SRO.

So are you still using the same hard drive from the old computer with no differences except new hardware?
