Hi, until a few days ago, my system was the following:
MB: Gigabyte 7VTXE+ (VIA KT266A chipset)
CPU: AMD Athlon XP Thoroughbred 1700+ (o/c @1800Mhz)
RAM: 512 MB DDR 266Mhz (single channel)
VGA: ASUS A9600 GE (radeon 9600 128MB DDR)
I changed the MB and VGA with:
MB: EPOX 8RDA+ (nForce 2 cjipset)
VGA: XFX 6600GT (GeForce 6600GT 128MB DDRIII)
VGA driver used Forceware 91.31 + nvidia stereodriver 91.31
and with the new MB, RAM is running in dual channel
I got a tremendoes boost in 3D Mark (with CPU at default speed 1500Mhz) 1300 3dmarks compared to 411 with old MB and VGA. Most other games seem to benefit from the new hardware too... Except Silkroad.... I get barely 2-3 FPS in town and 10-12 outside, compared to 10-15 fps in town and 25-30 outside before upgrade.
Suspected the stereo driver, but after installing a newer forceware without stereo driver nothing changes, the game runs awful.
I should also mention that I am running the game in 1024x768 High detail, I was running it with the same settings before upgrade.
