I have moved the guide over to
my personal webspace so that I can work on it easier, without having to update multiple copies spanning multiple forums.

Depends where you found it. Silkroad Tavern- that's me. SRO Boards- that's me too. I think I'm the only person with this edition, since I'm the same person.
None for network insecurity. I haven't seen it occur too much, and there seems to be no data on solving it. If you have fixed/solved it, it would be nice if you could let me now.

Hmm...
Turn off any other unused programs.
Turn down graphics settings through Right click desktop, properties, settings, advanced, tab with your graphics card on it.
Turn down in-game graphic settings.
Stay away from cities.

Ok, I'm getting the "please execute the silkroad.exe" error when I start the game from the launcher. What do I do?

Go to wherever you installed silkroad (most likely c:\program files\silkroad online or c:\program files\silkroad). Run the silkroad.exe.

Try the solutions for "???? Error", "Game Hack Detected", "C++ Runtime Error", and "npgl.Check() ! = NPGAEMON_SUCCESS". See if that helps. If not, try uninstalling, then download Ccleaner (ccleaner.com), then run cleaner, and scan for and fix any issues (do it twice). Then try reinstalling.

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Runtime Error!
Outdated C++ libraries and/or outdated drivers.
Download VC6RedistSetup_Enu.exe. Agree to the license agreement, and extract the results to C:/. Go to C:/, and run vcredist.exe.
I've download this but could not make it to run. Nothing happens after I click the execution file... @_@ blink.
This run time, and ???? and application hang blah blah errors, i suffered them all. and within 20 mins period of playing. It is now un-playable, altho' b4 the update (2 weeks ago), it has been running well. I have tried everything except this VC6. But same old story....
Is this really the problem of my computer? I start to doubt it, after so many times of reinstalling games, drivers, even OS. I play bf2 and it runs just fine, never ever has these kind of errors.
Btw, how can I make that .exe file to work? Please tell me, I'm gonna give this last shot and if it fail...then I simply quit SRO, for me now it's un-playable and daym it, so frustrated.
T_________T I so want to kill someone....

Server Undergoing Inspection when trying to update Silkroad:
Internet connection to Silkroad blocked.
Reboot and tap F8 as the system is starting. Select "Safe Mode with Networking". Update.

Geng: The issue is not just caused by outdated libraries, but outdated drivers. You'll need to update all drivers, including graphics, sound, LAN, and whatever else. (*To find the drivers for your system, go to the website of the motherboard manufacturer, and under the "Downloads" section, you can find drivers for your computer. Note that these drivers may not be the latest, you may need to then go to the website of company that makes the specific driver to find the latest version. )
Runny: It just doesn't play when you boot normally into windows, or what?
Wouterdl: What's your error?
VGN: Network speed/latencey/graphics also makes a difference. If your internet connection is not that fast, the game is also going to be slow. If your computer's graphics card is not that great, SRO will still try to run in a higher quality setting, which slows down the game. You can try updating your graphics, and reconfiguring your graphics.

ddcc, thank you for your help, but please understand that I have tried every possible things, except that VC6 which I could not make it to run after downloaded.
Well, there is another thing I have not tried that is to purchase a new graphic card, hahaha. My current is Nvidia 6600GT DDR3 128 MB.
Please take note that, the game was running well before. The issue has just happened since 2 weeks ago. ah, and sometimes the error notice doesnt prompt up. NOTHING!!!!!!!!!! The application just closes itself and back to desktop. I have tried to reinstall the game version 1.02 from official website as well as version 1.01 from filefront. If I minimize SRO then I managed to stay in game for quite long, hours, but as soon as I actually playing, then SRO shuts down after 15-20 mins. WTF!!!!!!!! and no-no other application running while im playing apart from bit defender v10+ with disable firewall.
This is driving me nut.
Heres my configuration
>P4 3.06Ghz MSI PM8M3 V mother board (hyper-thread)
>1.50 GB Ram
>Sound-card on-board updated driver Realtek AC97 from MSI website
>Nvidia 128MB DDR3 6600GT (I have tried with 4 drivers from Nvidia: forcewave 81.67; 81.97 from SRO site, 84.21 form Nvidia; and the latest 93.71 from nvidia - and none of them work for me- altho' I have been very careful, uninstalled the previous driver and reboot before install the new one.)
>XP pro OS SP2 updated
>Internet connection broadband cable 10MB (real upload 512kb/s, download 5500kb/s)
>CCleaner already
>DirectX 9.0c feb 2007, directX SDK feb 2007

tell me then, what do I have to do nowwwwwwwwww omg omg
