GameGuard error

New user here...
Every time I try to start up the client, Gameguard craps its pants and refuses to work
. It gives me some sort of application error - something about being unable to read memory somewhere. I tried all that I could think of to fix it, including shutting down my firewall, and more besides, but it didn't work. Any ideas?
I just want to play what looks like a fun game! Is that too much to ask?
