Are you guys trying to run a stall character on another user account with XP? Been seeing that usually NG doesn't like it when you try to do that since it came back.

I'm on this list also. I'm not running any stall characters or anything.

hmm first time I have this problem... wonder why this happened...
I checked the sro main forum and found this
http://www.silkroadonline.net/sro_board/onboard/on_content.asp?bID=SB_geFree&sID=1&Page=1&Num=33602&List_Ref=5672&sw=0&ss=1&sc=0&sk=nprotect
its suppose to help patch nprotect. Havent tried it yet though

WHew....thnx for that post! it really helped.
This is what I did to get it working:
- Optional?) Reinstall Silkroad
- Trying running it and if you get this crazy error it means that your Gameguard isn't connecting.
- Download the patch
http://update.nprotect.net/gameguard/in ... eGuard.exe
- Delete the entire Gameguard folder in Program Files/Silkroad/
- Install patch
- Run the game, you know it's working when Gameguard connects to update the software.
My reason why this time the error occurred - I was stalling when system maint kicked me off.

my windows host file is the original, nothing modified.
it is a strange error most def. seems to occur when gameguard doesn't connect to its host...
bad programming?

ok, here's a revised instruction
of what i did on MY Pc to get it to work...
Note: u do not need to reinstall silkroad
1.) go your Program Files\silkroad folder
and delete the GameGuard folder
2.) delete the GameGuard.des file as well
at the root of the silkroad folder
3.) download and run the patch
http://update.nprotect.net/gameguard/in ... eGuard.exe
4.) It may ask you to reinstall/modify/or uninstall
- Uninstall first, then install it again.
5.) Create a new shortcut to the
silkroad.exe at Step 1's location
6.) Launch the program
when lauching the program, after clicking start,
you should see gameguard download some files and patches,
that means it's working.... if it does not do that...
you may have other problems...
Ting
disclaimer, follow the instructions at your own risk... please make backup copies whenever possible when dealing with something like this.

Guys everyone do this:
1. Re-install the game
2. Download the patch
3. Manual update of patch
4. Try playing
5. Don't work post again

Shit, I uninstalled silkroad planning to re-install from the main site and now the client download on the main site is broken. I'm completely down

Hehe... Always go to the site first to download the programme again before you uninstall. I checked the site and its down, so I have not uninstalled it yet.
[edit] Oh wait, I do have the file on my computer, on another drive

O well, I'm in line to download it from FilePlanet so that's not a big deal.

Small ray of hope...If the main site is down, they may be doing updates regarding the error as well. *Crosses fingers for everyone.*

Ok.... I had been trying to login since afternoon, and after a nap, I woke up and tried again, it finally work. The problem lies with your ISP DNS server. Initially, I had a preset DNS server because i'm using a router. I removed it and made it to detect the DNS server by itself, then I start SRO again and the NProtect started downloading the files. I hope it helps.
