AGP Question

Hello!

I'm not that good with computer hardware. So I have a question: My pc is quite old, the mainboard supports AGP 2x and 4x. Now I would like to buy new graphic card - ATI Radeon 9550SE. That graphic card supports AGP 4x and 8x.

Now, does that mean it will work because the mainboard supports AGP 4x and the card supports 4x too? Or won't it work because my mainboard not supporting AGP 8x?

Maybe sounds like noob but I don't know it. :D

Thx for help.

Well, guess I will do fine with it then, even when it's a little slower. Now I have a Radeon 7500 - so the 9550SE would be better choice anyways. :)

Thanks alot for you quick help.

Before buying the card check you have the requirements to use it or else you will be wasting more money

if he has an AGP bus, it's no problem.

one thing i didnt mention, for your self u wouldnt notice if ur graphic card is slow or not, but if u try urs on a 8x agp, and run 3d mark 2003 the mark will be higher then u run it on ur comp, but not much a big difference, maybe like 30 marks

That's okay. Even if the game just runs a little bit smoother or with a bit more of details I'll be happy. :D

9550 will be fine if you play on a low resolution. hopefully you don't have an LCD. thing with the 9550 is that it's just an underclocked 9600. go to guru3d.com and get the overclocking software. it's quick and easy and with the 9550 it should tune it up so that the game will run smoothly.

don't get Rivatuner. just get like ATI Tray Tools or ATI Tool.

Didn't know that. Would you suggest to use the normal catalyst drivers from ATI or OmegaDrivers (if you know them)?
