did you install the latest client? if you had a long break you probably missed a few updates

Yes I installed the latest one, 1.225

Try this:

Go to Silkroad Folder,
Open the hackshield file and press "hsupdate.exe" so that it can update the hack shield
Then go to the "update" folder in the hack shield
You will see sro_client, copy it and paste it in Silkroad folder.

if its the installer then you have to re-download it perhaps? what anti virus do you have?

I have the same problem... it's not playing the game... we can't even install it we dl then try to install and then it pops up
