Hey SRF members. My brother is having troubles running his Silkroad client at his home. When he trys to start the client, all it does is give him this error. My brother downloaded the updated DirectX version, and still gets this error. He never experienced this problem before as he was able to play about a year ago, but now he cant. Has anyone encountered this error before? Is there a way to solve it? Please inform us. Thank you.
Regards, Cooler.

Your system is probably like... bogged down.

Joking aside Majin, its probably your graphics drivers. D3D9 is a DirectX 9 thing.. I believe its how games render graphics besides OpenGL, not too sure about it though, if someone can clarify that. Anyways, I would try updating your graphics drivers, see if that helps.

My brother said he downloaded the Direct X 10 version, so downloaded the
wrong Direct X version?I ll see if that helps, and I ll reply.
PS: Rhetoric, your system is more BOGGED than mine
EDIT: Thomas, my brother installed the Direct X in your link, and still it gives the same error.
PS: My brother has this stupid Validation test of Geniuene or whatever, maybe this could be the problem??

does he run any other programs that use directx? and do they run fine?
Uhg, I don't know/remember much about windows, but I think you can put "dxdiag" as a run command, and it gives you info about directx, the version, and if the video/sound is working correctly via tests.

Yeah they run fine, and he has the same Direct X version as I do, where I could run sro without problems, could it be a problem in windows caused by Ginuene Validation test which keeps popping up for him?

I think there is a pop-up before that, that states you do not have enough video memory...my solution was to close any other programs i had open...and sro worked just fine...and after sro is running you will be able to open other programs...without silkroad crashing.
(on another note...hello everyone)

Nope, there wasnt plus he didnt have any application open

I guess something is wrong with the Direct X itself or the windows?

No, Genuine validation will only prompt you to validate. It will not stop programs from running effectiently. Its a RAM problem/Memory.

1. this person has same problem
http://www.silkroadforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=106885
2. Are you doing Multiclient, I'm just ASKING, I'm sure your not.
But if you are, it might be that first client crashed and didn't completely close.
3. All my suggestion are the same as the other peeps, uninstall and reinstall direct X, same thing with your graphic card.
4. hmmmmmmmmmmm, maybe something to do with your registry, try uninstall direct x again, make sure it's completely gone from you registry, the reinstall.
5. You could always try to format your pc, that's as fun as pulling out poop with your fingers when your poop doesn't want to come out.

Lol he can't run the client itself to use a multiclient in the first place! xD
I will try to reinstall DirectX and update/ reinstall graphics card and give you feedback tomorrow, please post other ideas while I post by tomorrow, thanks every1 for your support.
