oh he meant minimum requirements lol. i have a 1gb ram 2.4ghz core duo and a 256mb nvidia geforce 6200 and it can RUN on high settings, just slow as shit, and slow+laggy on hotan.
so i guess your setup is better than mine, means you can RUN on high settings.

256mb graffics card (not the cheapo kind)
512mb ram
2.4+ghz dual core would add to the smoothness (if its a single core dont run anything in the background it will take away possessing power)
last but not least updated drivers for everything

Things that would help
Sound card with on board memory (gives your main ram and possessor more room to work with)
lan card (the one with the cord like a phone like but bigger) or wireless card

I think you'll find if you run SRO in Linux, you'll need far less powerful of a system to run SRO. My old system, AMD Athlon XP 3200+ 512MB DDR RAM, NVIDIA FX 5200 (128MB) graphics card, ran SRO barely enough to play on low to medium settings in Windows XP.

Once I switched to Linux on that same system, I was able to run with all high settings, AND detailed shadows. I just couldn't go into Hotan without switching to minimum settings and still getting bad lag.

On my new system, AMD Phenom 64-bit quad core, 2 GB RAM, NVIDIA 6400 (or so?), I can run max settings WITH detailed shadows AND run through Hotan with barely any lag. Sure, the updated video card and quad core help, but I know the move from XP to Linux also helped.

512 MB if you're running Linux with a lightweight window manager. Although 1GB would be better if you want the eye candy of KDE with compiz+fusion. :D

I ran sro on max settings (no detailed shadows) with

512mb RAM
some single core processor that was like 1.2ghz
radeon 9800 pro

and I had no problems

This is the problem indeed. Detailed shadows are a fps dropper on silkroad, dont know why. :banghead:

I don't think there's anything wrong with detailed shadows itself. I'm starting to think it's something in the Windows libraries or something. I have no problems with detailed shadows on Linux, but they work horribly on Windows on the same system.

On my old system, AMD Athlon XP 3200+ (single core) with 512 MB RAM and a 200 GB hard drive with an NVIDIA FX 5200 AGP card, detailed shadows lagged horribly in Windows XP Professional, but when I installed Linux and put SRO on there, detailed shadows worked just fine.

It's not SRO, it's Windows.
