Help with new computer parts!

Post by 0l3n »

So its time for me to try to get my old computer working again.

Its been down for quite a while, problem was that it wouldnt start, well it would start but there was no beep and no response at all except for the fan and the lights.

So first I replaced the power supply thinking its not getting power but that didnt work.

My grafics card is fairly new so im pretty sure thats not the one messing around.

I stripped it clean leaving only one stick of RAM (have two, tried both), grafics card, motherboard (duhh).

With that ive narrowed it down to either RAM, the motherboard or hell maybe even the precessor, I dont know. but ive been looking for new parts but im not a hardware wizz kid so your input would be awsome.

Here's the parts ive found at a reasonable price.

Motherboard:

"Gigabyte GA-MA74GM-S2H AMD 740G 2DDR2-DIMM 2PCI 2PCIe SATA Raid Audio VGA GB-LAN Socket AM2+ mATX"

Spoiler!

Processer:

"AMD Athlon64 X2 7750 2.7Ghz, Dual Core, 3MB, 95W, Socket AM2+, Black Edition"

Spoiler!

RAM:

"Corsair 2GB DDR2 533MHz /CL5/VS-5300 Value Select"

So are theese parts good? Will they fit together? Is there anything else I should know?

whats are the current parts you have now, do you know by any chance? and when you attempt to turn on the computer, do you get anything to appear on your screen? can you get to the BIOS?

well, if you can't get to your BIOS screen then it sounds like something is wrong with your motherboard, you said that all you can here when you turn on your rig is the fans? and some lights? to me it's weird since i am still learning the ropes but your power button is usually hooked up to your motherboard which is attached via special power cable to the PSU and if your not able to get to your BIOS which is one of the first things you usually see then, well i really don't know. but imo i think it's the motherboard.

take out the graphics card and if that works then its the graphics card messing up the motherboard.

got to uninstall the drivers for the motherboards graffics chip then shut off and reboot and install.

if that dosent work then get another graffics card and see if that works.

Didnt work. Only thing left would be one of the parts I listed. The computer is in need of an upgrade anyway.

Oh and I found another RAM:

"Corsair XMS2 Xtreme TWIN2X2048-6400 2x1GB (tot. 2GB) DDR2 PC2-6400 800MHz CL5-5-5-18"

i would recommend going Intel.
if your cheap see this:
Asus P5GC-MX/1333 Motherboard - Intel 945GC, Socket 775
Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 Processor
if your not cheap:
XFX nForce 750i SLI Extreme Motherboard - NVIDIA nForce 750i, 45nm Support, Socket 775
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 Processor
