If SRO reads your drivers correctly, those are almost 2 year old graphics drivers. Your hardware is obviously good enough to play it so it's a software issue.
Uninstall nvidia video/graphics drivers from add / remove programs.
Restart your computer.
Your desktop will probably look really big now because you're using VGA mode.
Install the newest drivers for your card, and reboot again.
It may work now.

Operating system: *whatever you have, hopefully XP :p*
Good luck, hope to see you ingame

You HAVE to uninstall the first set, otherwise it tries to run through both and screws things up.
Uninstall both now.. reboot, install the newest.
Other than that you could try re-downloading the new client - it could be a base SRO error, maybe the download had a corrupted file.
Also, try a lower resolution and low settings before you even launch the game - the options to do that are in the sro launcher thing.
Mmmm.. honestly that's all I can think of, maybe just generally cleaning up some thing might remedy the problem.. scanning with programs like Malwarebytes' antimalware, spybot s&d, adaware, or even a defragment of your harddrive.
Worst comes to worst.. you could always reformat if pretty much all you do with your computer is SRO as many do. That usually fixes any problem.
