Someone came and took away Silkroad, you can't play it,can't even d/load it or install it.

That's how I feel.....I downlaoded the game,installed it and it doesn't work.
This forum has been no help with my problem as they just "shun" me off...

My problem is is that the stupid "Please execute silkroad.exe" sign is gettin on my nerves.I don't know what do you and if anyone could help please do so.It is so annoying because my friend plays it but i can't.He had the same problem and re-installed it,works like a charm.....WHY DOESN'T MINE!!!

i think you may try with a total reinstall of wondows and sro - that usually solves problems provided

1)you meet hardware specs
2)sro is the first thing you install after you get your browser able to show google

Thanks for that.....I am currently re-downloading SRO ,thought of maybe a corrupt file???
Pity my computer is so slow, takes 5hrs,34mins to d/load is this normal???

I just hope it works this time or else i think i will probably give up.....As for re-installing WINDOWS I don't think I could do that to our family computer....lol....and plus I don't know much about computers....(I'm only 15) lol.

Anyways thanks for the help I would really like this problem to be resolved....I'M SO INPATIENT!!!

yea, it's tough when the pc you are using is share dby the family because if somehting mucks up your dad/ bro etc will be asking you things...

maybe you can tell them sro will help your maths?

ok here are some important questions your reply didnt answer. do you know :-
1) what is the brand and model name of your graphics card?
2) how much memory is on your motherboard?
3) do you have any firewall enabled? (sro doesnt say it has problems wiht firewalls but it might have something to do with the problem)
4) what kind of connection do you have to the web? ADSL? speed? 56k?
5) what kind of modem do you have (is it a wireless network)

i think.. if reinstallking sro doesnt help and all your system specs are ok then by eliminiation it is likely to be the installation of the windows xp....
maybe xp professional will work better?

Varsidius - i know sro looks great and its free and its exciting but donn't feel too bad if in the end the game doesnt work on your pc. there's actually a lot of good ones out there which are free (and easier to run) and eventually, SRO type games will becom emuch more common so you aren't missing out on much at all...

in the end, if SRo doesn't work you may want to try:-
http://www.supremedestiny.com.my
look up mu online's free servers too
kal online is not bad
hero online is running a beta
"fly for fun" is pretty awesome too http://www.flyff.com i think....

but first lets see if we can get yur pc fixed.

np :)
um to find out that information i think you might like to try googling for a "system information" program. alternatively just run "dxdiag" from the start and run button on the bottom left of your windows screen and click on the display tab. then tell us what you see there in the top left box makred "device".

it depends what you like, but if you spend a little time learning a bit about computers it might be easier for you to run the game :) but not everyonne has to be an expert in computers.

best to understand if your computer meets the minimum specs before askng your dad for an upgrade unless he knows about computers himself.. then he might be able to help you know if your pc meets the minimum.

yup

np varsi

well it look slike your system meets the minimum specs.

next step is to try a reinstall of the game. re-downloading it can take up to 5 hours dependin gon your network connection because its 1 CD in size (500 meg or so).

try uninstalling it totally and re-installing it and running it again and see.

try to run sro on its own without any applications in the background (ecept for essentials). see if removing any antivirus just to test it helps.

i am afraid if a clean re-install doesnt work then u may need to consider a reinstal of windows. maybe something else inside tyou current windows install is preventing it.

annoying glitxch but good luck and let u sknow how you go.
