Has anyone else noticed that if you try to restart and go back to the character slection screen, it just closes the client completely?

Quite annoying, especially when you happen to be playing during peak times.

It happened always. But since a week or something it works kinda often. (except of weekend offcourse)

It doesn't happen always. When you want to go back to the character screen, you "re-connect" somehow. If you can't connect again.. the client closes.

In other words: 'the chance of getting to the character selection screen is equal to the chance to login on first try'.

always happend at peak hour (tooooo crowded). but if the server populated, it wouldnt happend

restart requires a reconnect which is the same as trying to connect in the first place.
