Changing hosts leads to dropouts?

Hey everyone, i was reading the login exploit topic and it suggested bout changing your hosts so it connects to the faster login server. I don't kno much about this but i changed my hosts by only adding the lines and it seems my net dropped out twice an hr later. So i'm jst wondering would changing my hosts cause this or is it some other problem?, thanks !

no it would not unless you took out what originally was in there

I didnt delete anything so i guess the two dropouts that occurred after i changed the host file was pure coincidental, thanks
