Detected Abnormal Process..(system Error)

When I try to execute my silkroad.exe I get the following error:

Detected abnormal process..(system error)

I read somewhere else that it can be fixed by creating a new user account, which I did. and then silkroad worked for about a day then ran into the same problem. My system info is as followed:

1GB of ram
128mb internal Intel® 82915G/GV/910GL Express Chipset Family
3.2GHz Intel® Pentium 4 processor.
Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3.

What application is giving you the error? Usually when a dialog box comes up, it has some sort of application name in the title bar of the dialog. Is it sro_client.exe giving you the "detected abnormal process" error, or something else?

This thread also talks about this issue. It was suggested that he shut down his firewall and antivirus, and apparently it worked for him.

I wouldn't suggest actually turning OFF your firewall and antivirus, but if one of those applications are generating the error, maybe you can configure them to allow SRO. For example, if it's your firewall, you can configure the firewall to allow the ports that SRO uses to go through, rather than shutting down the entire firewall.

OP isn't even the same account as the poster in that thread. Might not be the same error.

Besides, regardless of what the error is, shutting down the firewall probably isn't the best solution from a security standpoint. Better to find out what specific ports should be unblocked instead of unblocking all 65,535 or so ports entirely, unless maybe there's another firewall protecting the computer, like the one built into most Cable/DSL routers if it's enabled.
