I am almost positive you can play silkroad off an aircard, though it could be laggy, my question is when using an aircard, does it connect to networks that have security on them to where silkroad servers would be blocked, yahoo gaming, large traffic servers basically.
Also, is an aircard a one time buy? Does it have a monthly fee?
Is an aircard different from the built-in wireless connection cards in newer laptops, desktops, etc?

Cellular card? Yes, you can, and I have, although it's laggier than normal. I wasn't even able to teleport to Hotan without dropping all details to nothing and holding down V.
I used a Verizon cell card in an area where the typical data speeds were 96k-128kbps. It's really not all that fun though, and don't try PVP'ing at all.
Now if you are in a suburban area where you might get 512kbps and above, it's doable.

Ok good thanks, but still the few other questions I had, does it work off some kind of cellular internet network? or the wifi ones, and do you have to have a service plan for the card?

It'll depend on the card, but
-wifi is NOT cellular
-Yes, the cellular signal conducts data and goes back to an ISP, so it's basically the same thing as any other Internet connection
-Yes, you'll probably need a service plan for the card. Mine was 8 MB per month so I was fairly certain I was not going to be playing for any length of time while I wasn't at home.
