download spybot search and destroy and run a scan.

also download Tuneup utilities 2008 which can be found here http://www.tune-up.com/products/tuneup-utilities/

just go to the download tab for the 30 day trail. do these and report back.

If you don't have any anti-virus installed on your system a good free one is called AVG antivirus, or AVAST! is another. Both are free and will help protect you.

In addition to search and destroy you can also try Ad-aware, they have a free version of their product as well. I use S&D first and then Ad-aware to double check, it usually finds some things that S&D missed.

I had the same problem, same error message and everything and had to reimage my PC (step it back a couple days). I ran search and destroy, virus scanners ect nothing worked. They all appeared to work then an hour or so later it would all start again.

Mine got progressivly worse so not sure if your is the same. The program/virus/adware/whatever started flooding my C drive with .tmp files. At last count i had like 2000 and you could not delete them. It was a big mess.

AVG is a good free virus program so I second SlyckMyx's advise. Go to http://www.download.com amd search for it.

You should have a recovery option on your PC. When you boot it up you should see it in the black/blue screen. It should say something like Recover system hit F1 now and then ask you how far back you want to go. You should just pick the day before you started havign the problem. Sorry i dont have more details.

There is one other option before you get to reimaging your computer. You can try rolling it back like Shortcut suggested. If that still doesn't work, there is a little application called Hijackthis You can get it here http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.html run it and copy and past the log file back in this thread and I will take a look at it try and help you best I can. But try Shortcut's suggestion first.
