About s/s nuker 8:1,7:1,6:1 and so on + armour

My question(s)(underlined):

I choosed armor as gear for my s/s nuker. But a friend told me to give my nuker protector and make my char 8:1 or 7:1, first of all: i dont know what that 8:1 means or what it does, i think it will give me more str power and def, if its true, should i change to protector OR keep armor and be full int so my mag dmg will be high?

1:8, 1:7, 1:5
Means: For every 8/7/5 int points u add, u add 1 str point
So; 1->90 = 89 x lvl up
89*3 = 267 stat points
267/9 = 30 -> 1:8 = 30 str points & 237 int
267/8 = 33(or 34) -> 1:7 = 33 str points & 234 int
267/6 = 44(or 45) -> 1:5 = 44 str points & 223 int

When u have a 1:8, 1:7, 1:5, ... build; that means u have a hybrid int build
U sacrifice a bit of int (magical damage & mp) for str (physical damage & HP)
If u choose 8:1, 7:1, 5:1, ... build; that's a hybrid str build
Just the opposite of a hybrid int ^^ ; U won't find much hybrid str builds though

Full int or hybrid int s/s should stay protector until 3rd tier 8D; then switch to garment
Because Ice only gives decent buffs once it hits 70+

The choice is up to you what gear u will wear though.
I'm 1:7 with garment
My friend is 1:8 with armor (but takes heavy damage from nukes though)
Other friend is 1:5 with protector.

Keep in mind that 9D garment is way more expensive than protector.
Also: the difference in phy def between garment and pro is small; the difference between the mag def is BIG
