how do you know how much damage jewelry actually absorbs?
cause it would be stupid if 26.2(0%) raised to 26.5(61%) only absorbs .3 more phy or mag def?
is this right cause then it is not worth it to really spend alot of money to +up jewelry past +5 or spend stones for upping the %'s

As far as I understand it, it reduces the damage by a %, as you already said, but here's the catch:
The difference between 26.2% and 26.5% is NOT .3% of damage. Some simple examples:
You take 10000 damage without jewelry.
You take 8000 damage with 20% absorbtion.
You take 7000 damage with 30% absorbtion.
(8000-7000)/8000*100% = 12.5% less damage
You take 500 damage with 95% absorbtion.
You take 400 damage with 96% absorbtion.
(500-400)/500*100% = 20% less damage

I dont think that calculation means anything :S maybe im just confused, but from what you say, it will be like this:
You take 10000 damage without jewelry.
You take 7380 damage with 26.2% absorbtion.
You take 7350 damage with 26.5% absorbtion.
(7380-7350)/7380*100% = 0.4% less damage which is not much different from 0.3%.

Correct, but you don't wear 1 piece of jewelry; you wear 4. Do the same calculation when the total absorbtion is in the 85% range:
You take 1480 damage with 85.2% absorbtion.
You take 1450 damage with 85.5% absorbtion.
(1480-1450)/1480*100% = 2.0%
Do the same calculation when the total absorbtion's in the 95% range:
You take 480 damage with 95.2% absorbtion.
You take 450 damage with 95.5% absorbtion.
(480-450)/480*100% = 6.25%
... and that is with only .3% on only 1 piece of jewelry. 4 pieces brings the % times 4, and with a few + you will get better bonuses than just .3% per piece.

ughg... why are you taking the damage out of the reduced one :S if anything you should count it out of the original hit without jewelry right?
I mean its like original 10, 90% = 9 and 8% = 9
(9-8)/9=0.11111111111=11.11111%
but the difference is really 1%...

Because ultimately, the question we're trying to answer here is: is it worth improving your level 85+ jewelry by +ing it. To answer that we'd like to know what the difference is between the damage we receive when wearing non +ed jewelry and when wearing +ed jewelry. We're not interested in how much damage we would receive without jewelry.

Too lazy to search for it, but there is a youtube clip of someone showing the difference in damage with jewelry on, no jewelry on and various levels of jewelry on. (the clip was linked in a thread here) It was pretty significant the difference in damage, enough that I went out and upgrade all my gear after watching it.
