1h/cleric gear

Hey,
So I made a character with one-handed sword. I'm going full strenght.
I chose cleric as my sub-class. Some of the buffs/passives under cleric require lightarmor in order to use them. Right now I'm using heavy armour, as it really has the best defence. ( at least the mobs who I fight at low levels )I'm wondering if I should swap to light armour soon.
What do you suggest? Should I stay on heavy armour or should I swap and use cleric's passives and buffs? I'm currently level 25, training mostly on ongs, evil order warriors and such.
Cheers.

hmm good question. as far as i remember, there are only two passives that need you to wear a light armor as a cleric: glory armor and favor armor. both of them increase mag.def and phys.def.
imo, you should stick with the heavy armor (since most of your mobs are just physical attack based anyways). the extra passive helps but according to the description...you HAVE to have a cleric rod equipped for the passive to work. so unless you will be a cleric lol you should'nt need to worry about these passives...
btw i like your sig

You have a point. I guess I'll stick with heavy then.
Thanks for the answer salmissra.

Actually I still can't decide.
Some people say "You're a tank, use heavy armour"
Others say that cleric passives and buffs make me even stronger.
My questions:
1) Which way am I stronger then? Using plainly heavy or using light with cleric passives.
2) If I use light armour, then in order for the passives to work I have to hold a cleric rod. Does that mean that I use taunt on a monster and then switch to rod and just stand there?
Regards,
Carlo.

The cleric passives only work with the cleric rod equipped, so acting as one handed sword in light armor you do not get the passives. But the str you have gives you phy defense, so with light armor you will have very good phy defense and ok magic defense. in armor you will have excellent phy defense but your magic defense will be so low.
and why would you taunt and just stand there? lol but yes you would get the passives again if you had the rod on again.

just go with heavy armor, that's all you need for tanking in a good 8man party. later on, if you want, you could always switch. but for grinding, it's better to be able to tank more with your heavy armor.
and yes as i've said before, the cleric passive on works if your holding a cleric rod, which you should NOT be holding when tanking lol. even if you taunt, the monster loses the aggro on you fast and you need to be attacking it to maintain your taunt.

Wear Light Armour, so when you switch to Cleric rod you'll have a higher defense. This lets you last longer while you use your cleric buffs. This build is equivalent to "God-Mode" in console adventure games, you're only unguarded for about ~27 seconds.

oh yea barotix is right too. in pvp, you can bless yourself for super def. for 45secs...use your iron/mana skin for 45 more secs..then just wait out the ~30secs as a cleric..just for the healing/defense until bless recools..

Thats true and very effective, but if you couldnt kill the other person in 90sec, what makes you think you will kill him in the next 90sec, and knowing that you would be just waiting for the cool downs 45sec, and that person would be good as new.

You would be using your one hand sword + shield or if you need to your cleric rod + shield. If they didn't die during the first 90 seconds, then you can tank them during the next 30 seconds with 1h/shield. Then once 30 seconds are up start off with bless then switch to 2h, What you're waiting for here is a good crit. All it takes is one crit when they're KDed.

we are talking here about 1h/cleric, and not 2h, and if the warrior also had 2h, then why not go with 2h from the start of pvp, and not on the second phase after the cool downs.

You start off with 2h hand and when you enter phase two switch to 1 hand. In the end you need both 1h and 2h, most warriors end up with both or just take 1h (on Venus). 1h for party play, 1h + 2h + Cleric for 1v1 PVP.
