Lvling slow Wizard

Post by vacsux »

Hi, im wizard/bard lv 23, mastery 21, i got all attack skills and such.
but it seems im lvling really slow. I dont have any premium stuff.
I want to know, what mob is the best for me to lvl on. And no, i cant find party anywhere so im solo-ing.
i can 2 hit lv 29 mobs and 1hit mobs my lvl.
what would be better/faster?

You don't state which element skills you have. From what I can tell, Earth isn't great on the lower levels, I go fire and lightning, keep my cold about 6 levels lower, only for freezing a champ or giant.

Fire: highest damage, lightning: for the knockback, cold: to keep phys mobs away from me. I don't like fighting ranged phys mobs.

I ignored root, mana drain, and fire trap for now. I think those are mainly PVP skills.

Do you have life control? Also, have a cleric friend buff you with int/str, then you can really do some damage. It's the difference between a 2-hit and a 1-hit.

I admit this is my first wiz, so others with more experience should weigh in.
If faith is a crutch, I'm not limping anymore.

for PVE I suggest using fire and cold, cold since its the skill with the lowest MP consumption and when you get to higher lvl's cold uses less then half even 1/3 of what some other skills use, earth is your second strongest attack but dont bother getting the lvl 60 skill since its weaker then the first skill just keep lvling that.

yes root, mana drain, and fire trap are more for pvp, wait till higher lvl's to start lvling those.

out of all the skill the only ones I would say you shouldnt lvl is the lvl 60 earth skill, lvl 60 lightning skill, and possibly detect since it only detects other wizards and not rogues and you can use invisilible/stealth detect pills to find them if need be and wizards are the only ones that can use those pills while they're invisible.

go to higher lv mobs that you can kill in 2 hit. On my wizard, i used fire then ice to finish them off. No lightning because it does next to no damage. If you use the earth skill, you would already be dead.

If you think lving now is hard...

There is a glitch with wizard detect that allows you to see rogues as well as wizards, joymax has yet to fix it.

Well, as for what mobs to play on; personally I stayed in Constantinople till level 23 fighting crabs, then afterwards ported all the way to Donwhang to solo there because its a bit easier to do so there as bots make excellent meat shields that you can killsteal off of, or hope that they take aggro off of mobs that you dont want chasing you. After crabs, I started fighting the Hyungno GHosts, then moved to Demon horses and then straight to Meek Gun Powders and Earth Ghosts and so on.

at that lvl u should be fighting dark wolves/evil wolves. or u can go to DW and kill hyungyo ghosts.

u should raise-
first book of ice
2nd book of ice
first book of fire
2nd book of earth

i usually avoid getting lightning. its does lower dmg than ice, and ice still has better status effects (for pve).

also use life control. on mobs u 2 hit ko, use ice nuke first, then fire nuke. on mobs u one hit, use 2nd book ice nuke to summon 2-3 mobs, then use 2nd book of earth to finish.

Also, when you get to the level when you start fighting Sungsungs or conversly, Bungwangs, you will LOVE the first book earth nuke. It works wonders when you get surrounded since they come up to you fast.

make a tank friend is my suggestion. If you can't find one...

To level faster solo
  1. go somewhere that doesn't kill you
most wizards complain that they die all the exp they gain.
  2. Ice Bolt + Fire Bolt is an ok combo to grind with.
  3. LC... if you're confident that you won't die go ahead,
  4. Cleric Sub... recovery division(lvl.40) + LC will max your health to full every 4 seconds.
(but 4 seconds is actually a pretty long time)
  5. Bard Sub... noise will prevent pre-emptive attacks by normally aggressive mobs and you get the benefit of having an increased moving speed, which is handy for solo

about, lightning charge, someone said it's to keep mobs away but more times than one you'll find it aggroing even more mobs.

Another friend to a soloing wizard - an attack pet.

They make great meatshields when their level is close to yours.

You can send your wolf/bear/penguin/bird in to attack a mob first, draw its aggro. Then you hit it with your nukes. You should die much less often. :D

And if a champ/giant spawns close to you, it will usually aggro onto your pet first. My wolf has saved my life countless times by tanking hits that would have taken me out. Just remember to bring a supply of health pots for your pet.

You should grind of the highest level mobs that you can at least 2-hit. You should try to grind on the slow moving mobs that don't have ranged attacks. :D
