1st degree shield vs Nth Degree Shield
How does a fully maxed out low level shield compare to a high level one. Can the block ratio be high enough to make up for lacks elswhere?
Re: 1st degree shield vs Nth Degree Shield
The defenses are way way way higher...
D1 br 19 shield < D9 br 15 shield
Diff is like 100 phy and 160 mag def

yea, differences are very very big. Block rate is definitely useful, let's consider a few situations.
no matter how high the br is, if the shield you're thinking of using is 7+ levels higher (stat wise) higher than your previous shield then pick the higher level one.
32 +3 shield is equivalent to a level 35 shield. so if you want to use a level 42 +0 shield, even if it has a lower br use the 42 shield.

Re: 1st degree shield vs Nth Degree Shield
I thought about this for a long time, and it depends on the average damage that a mob does.
Think about this simple example: a mob hits you for exactly 1k damage. If a shield has 10 extra defence, then the hit will be 990, so thats 1% less damage on average. If the br is 1% higher, then the average dmg is also 1% lower, since 1% is blocked.
But now, what if the mob only hits 100 damage? 10 extra defence on a higher lvl shield means 10% extra defence here! So your old shield would have to have 10 more br to compensate for the lack of defence ..
So you can never say 'this or that shield is better' without taking a look at the damage you actually receive ...
