Dropped Merchant Loot

Hello All, I've been lurking for awhile as I just started playing SRO a few months ago, finally had a question that the Search button couldn't help me with. It was partially answered in one of the guides, but not fully.

When I've been out grinding sometimes I come across Merchant loot lying on the ground. I'm assuming the merchant was either killed by a mob or NPC thief. Can I pick up the loot and then sell it to the specialty trader, or can it only be picked up by playerThiefs? If I can pick it up, am I subject to attack by NPC thieves then?

If you spot loot just laying about it is either because the merchant dced, or the thief did a good job of hidding it after he stole it but the hunter still got the thief. A normal player cannot pick up the loot, only those in thief job can pick up the loot. Once there is loot in a transport that being thief or merchant npc's will start to spawn to attack the transports owner. Also jobs can only be equipped in town.

Thx for the explanation.

As a side note, I read somewhere on here that there is no difference in how much money your receive for completing a trade run based on the type of cargo your carrying, just on the amount. Any idea if this is going to change? IE: if you run jewels, you'll make more than if you run fruit, but more NPC thiefs will spawn for the jewel run.

the amount of revenue you gain from running a specicfic item increases and decreases depending on how often you run that item.

For example
Run Vases everyday for 3 hours from jangan ~> DW you'll notice a drop in revenue
The moment you run something else [example: horseshoes] the gold gained will rise significantly.

so remember this tip: Variety is the Spice of Life as a Silk Road Trader.
