Ehm... How did you check your fps? Oo
Well maybe its cuz of your graphic card?

Your processor sucks terribly, that's the problem. It may also be your graphics card if it's lower-end, but I don't use nVidia because personally, they suck and are slow compared to ATi.
You can use FRAPS to check for FPS, iirc.

It is:
the processor's a lot slow
the ram (2 gigs is better)
the video (FX series weren't great)
Combined that makes for your 15-20 fps. What about graphics details? Turn off shadows, water detail, etc and it should go up a bit.
I'm running a backup PC 2 gig RAM, 3 ghz HT processor, @ 800 by 600, a 7300GS and it's barely cutting it. I haven't checked my FPS but it's moderately smooth, so probably around 25-30 fps.

HAHAHA
You're funny. ATI does not do well against the current crop of Nvidia cards, including the 8800GT. Not to mention ATI's less-than-spectacular driver support.

not really, it ran fine on my old computer with 512mb of ram.
it also runs fine on my laptop which has 1 gig of ram.

1 gig is better then 512 mb, 2 gig is better than 1 gig and 4 gig is better than 2 gig...you can go on about this...1 gig is more then enough if you have a descent processor and graphics card (which I dont have lol)
the highest I can reach is like 50 in the cave...in town its mostly 1 or 2 and while grinding outside town (doh) around 15-20

GFX card is fine. On my staller PC i have a FX5200 and can run the whole game in full [ except shadows ].
FX 5200
1 GB RAM
But my crappy pc is duo core 2.8GHz tho.
Question... What resolution do you play in? I'd suggest trying it in 800x600 windowed mode with everythign on low + SOUND OFF and then slowly adding options till it gets choppy.

Turn off shadows entirely in the options menu.
It's bugged, and over 99% of the players that have shadows on get low FPS.
Besides that I can't think of a different cause..
I have a lan pc here, a Pentium 550 Mh with 256 ram and Geforce 440 and I can play SRO fine, your pc specs are good enough to play SRO flawless.

Yeah, with me it's same as you

if there are NO monsters or people around me and nothings moves, then i get high FPS ( with high i mean lets say 30-40) In the cave I got 50++
